Impeachment Ennui

August 21, 2005

Boring. Boring. Boring.

Those opposition people better get their act together.  We’re not yet at trial and the Administration’s men in Congress are already running circles around them.

Delay. Delay. Delay.

This impeachment thing is about as exciting as watching mushrooms grow.  Certainly, we’re all in the dark and getting bull-shit thrown all over us.

I want my IMPEACHMENT TV!

Now!

I was one of those people who were either glued to the TV or AM radio during the last impeachment trial.  It was my 3 o’clock habit.  Time and space were suspended while one set of politicians showed us how another set of politicians did things they were probably guilty of as well.  It was the trash taking out the trash.  The dirty linen aired out for us mere mortals.  It’s one thing to hear about the system screwing us.  It’s quite another experience to see how it’s done exactly.

And it was spellbinding.  Better than telenovelas and superior acting performances, to boot.  The play-by-play coverage was good, too.  I enjoyed the “locker room” interviews outside the session hall with politicians being interviewed like athletes during an all-star game.  And the “in studio” analysis was good, too.  It seemed we would lose half the legal academe if all the TV studios blew up at the same time.

It was so good when it lasted.  So good that even though I knew the prosecution wouldn’t be back for that last televised session, I still sat there and watched nothing happen.  And for a few hours after that, I could not accept that it was over.  It tuned out for EDSA Dos.  Been there. Been that.

So to our esteemed politicians, let me quote that great bard, Morrisey:  “Please, please, please. Let me, let me, let me. Get what I want. This Time.”
