L-R: Will Varias, Melyjane Bertillo, Lindy Rogero-Gavino, Janette Toral, Me, Golda Benjamin, Rissa Ofilada (Conference Chair), Sharon Corpuz and Christian Calibo. Not in picture: Emerson Banez. (Pic by Jon Lao) I am indebted to the people at the UP Law Internet and Society Program for the success of iBlog. First and foremost, I need to thank our tireless Conference Chair, Atty. Rissa Ofilada, who worked on weekends and holidays to design the logo, the poster, the newsletter and still have time to get all the sponsors — despite having a full-time job at the Senate. Next, Atty. Lindy Rogero-Gavino and Ms. Janette Toral for coordinating all the parallel efforts on the ground and making sure we had a budget, a press release, an agenda and a Master of Ceremonies. Next come all our student assistants: Emerson Banez, Golda Benjamin, Melyjane Bertillo, Christian Calibo, Sharon Corpuz, & Will Varias who did all the dirty work and put in long hours. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Mabuhay kayo!
I’ve put up 2 albums of pictures taken during iBlog. The first is by Jonathan Lao who had a digital SLR. The picture quality is excellent and we thank Jonathan for generously allowing us to post them. Click here to see Jon’s album.
The second is a set of pictures I took at the event. Notice the lower quality of the pics. Click here to see my album. :)
Update: In response to questions about licensing terms, Jon Lao has informed me that it’s okay to use his pics so long as he is given credit and a link is provided to his site (ideatalks.com).
As for me, I use the attribution-non-commercial-share-alike license from Creative Commons. Click on the link to find out what that means.
Update Again: Abe Olandres put up his pics of iBlog, too. Nice tones, Abe! Click here to view them. OhMyGawd, there’s a photo with Mike Abundo (mikeabundo.blogspot.com)!!

Here’s a group picture we had taken of the iBlog attendees, speakers and organizers. This was taken at the end of iBlog. As you can see, many of the 155 people who showed up stayed on ‘till the end. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Mabuhay kayo!

ABC 5 also covered the event. They said they’d be doing a special on blogging and they’ll tell us when it’s scheduled for airing. Thanks for coming!

Bloggers are an unusual bunch. They share their inner most secrets and thoughts but keep a safe distance from their real world audience. On-line personas so meticulously crafted might crumble under the weight of real-world contact. And so, when The Sassy Lawyer was introduced at iBlog, it was Connie Veneracion who took to the stage and faced her loyal readers. This was a virtual reunion but also a real world first meeting. The warm reception marked by cheers and loud applause confirmed that The Sassy Lawyer had touched the lives of most of the bloggers in attendance.
I must say she didn’t disappoint.

There is no doubt in our minds that blogging will have a great impact on journalism. It hould not surprise us that PCIJ has taken the plunge and their resident blogmaster, Alecks Pabico, shared PCIJ’s journey that led them to launch a group blog. Alecks also discussed blogging, journalism trends and the profound challenges that their profession face with the advent of blogging. Maraming salamat, Alecks!
